The thing with amateur local theater is it is almost always bad BUT keeping it alive is the most important thing
The joys of artistic expression cannot be limited to talented people everybody needs it to survive
This is such a hilarious take we should give untalented people who make bad art money you know just because guys
Exactly. Glad you understand 💗
I feel like some people have fundamentally misunderstood the point of funding the arts. It’s not about receiving quality art products, it’s about giving people an opportunity to engage in the act of creation. Because, you know, we’re human beings and art is fundamental to us.
It’s a) extremely classist an b) detrimental to art and society as a whole to try and confine it to people who are already good at it. Let people do things they’re bad at. Let people engage with art in a way they find fun and fulfilling, even if you don’t like what they make. Give people a safe space to be artists. And yeah, let folks put on crummy theatre. You don’t have to buy a ticket, but you should absolutely respect their right to sell them.
free my man he did all of it but i dont care
Ugh, was having a great time mocking my recently imprisoned rival when I noticed the camera positioning makes it so that I appear behind the bars, thus framing me as trapped in a metaphorical prison of the narrative, now my whole day is ruined. Fuck.
This is worded like a fucking callout post
hey @staff this is a bad look lmao
guys why do you think we come to tumblr for…… the twitter experience??
but wait! it gets worse!
[text transcript: why is the activity pane blocking the dashboard. it didn’t do that before]
[text transcript: oh good i’ll just open a chatbox and have it appear (insert big long arrow across the screen) way over here. this is so seamless compared to when these features were closer. so not jarring at all /s]
@staff why do you not listen to real feedback from the userbase and instead copy twitter’s homework and doing it incredibly awfully even

having a child has taught me that every toddler is completely justified in their frustrations and tantrums because learning how to do something you have literally never encountered or heard of before is insane. and being expected to be completely calm in the face of this constant barrage of overwhelming information is doubly insane.
i got charlie a sticker activity book and it occurred to me i have to TEACH someone how to unpeel stickers. it’s SKILL that requires DEXTERITY and FINE MOTOR ABILITY. i thought it was obvious that you have to curl the page a little bit to create a break in the cut so the sticker comes up.
obviously a fucking BABY wouldn’t know that because they have no background experience to inform their thought process. OBVIOUSLY. and OBVIOUSLY the LITERAL BABY wouldn’t get it right the first few times. it would OBVIOUSLY take practice. lots of it.
i hate this feeling. it’s so obvious. why are children treated so badly when they’re learning everything for the first fucking time. why do people treat children so horribly and expect so much. they’re brand new. why didn’t i get the same grace i give to my child? why did no one have patience for me? why, when it’s this easy?
it’s so easy. it’s so fucking easy.
Declutter Tumblr
The new layout it a whole mess. Thankfully Xkit can already help with a bunch of this! I’m sure it’ll give more options soon.
Vanilla Tumblr:
(I have marked in red what can be removed. The tabs can be set not to stick, so you will really only see them at the top of your dash. Empty box on the left for hidden notifications and shop sparkle, i just didn’t have any. I’m EU so no Live for me).Xkit Rewritten Tumblr:

lmao tumblr letting their users choose whether or not they want their likes to be public but then pulling a twitter 2.0 and showing your likes on your followers’ dashboards and specially saying who liked the posts in their new update, without the users’ consent or a way to turn it off, is actually pretty insane.
like how many times to we — the users — have to tell them we don’t want tumblr to be like any other social media platforms and that tumblr’s being different than twitter, instagram, tiktok is actually what makes us stay on this silly little site.
respectfully @staff you’re driving your users away. stop trying to “fix” things that are good and don’t need to be fixed. we want tumblr to be tumblr. we don’t want the site to be twitter or instagram 2.0
